And beyond Ngorongoro crater lodge is a luxury lodge which is located on the edge of the Ngorongoro crater and it is divided into 3 camps.
The lodge also has 30 suites where guests stay and these suites consist of grass roofs with beautiful views of the landscape. Each of the 3 camps such as the north camp and the south camp at the crater lodge have dining areas and sitting areas.
Rooms at the crater lodge have an elegant touch with Victorian furnishings and an African setting. The rooms include the family suite which is made up of 2 suites with an interconnecting door. All the main areas at the lodge also have stairs.
Facilities in the rooms at the crater lodge include a personal bar, a personal coffee station, air conditioning, a bath and shower, in room telephone, hair dryer, an in room safe, bedroom, sitting room and an en suite bathroom with views of the crater below.
Wi-Fi is also available at the lodge for guests to stay connected to the world while relaxing in the comfort of the crater lodge. Other facilities at the lodge include 24 hour electricity, a wine cellar or store and 2 rooms which are wheel chair accessible.
The lodge has no swimming pool and in regards to the conference facilities, the lodge can organize these for the guests. In the rooms at the crater lodge, guests are also provided with gym in a basket as well as healing earth treatments.
The crater lodge also offers guests in room massages which are a form of massage done from the comfort of the guest’s room. At signature safari shop, guests can also buy souvenirs which are of a variety as well as handmade crafts as well as products from high end designers and Tanzanian crafts.

Activities which guests staying at the crater lodge engage in include game drives, cultural visits with the Maasai and Hadzabe tribes, walks and hikes, sundowners among others.
Game drives which guests staying at the lodge engage in are carried out in the Ngorongoro crater in the highland forest and also involves driving around the crater floor where wildlife species such as elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos among others can be spotted. Flocks of flamingos can also be seen during a safari around the crater.
The lodge also offers its guests an activity of visiting Ol duvai gorge which is an archaeological site and hikes to Empakai crater. Other experiences guests of the crater lodge enjoy is watching sundowners with the Maasai, beading lessons or spending the day with the lion conservation team.
Experienced and professional guides of the crater lodge lead the guests during their game viewing experience for individuals, groups, families and special interest groups.
The lodge also offers a variety of activities for children during their stay at the crater lodge and these include wood carving, tree planting, bead work with the Maasai, a bow and arrow adventure, baking cupcakes and soccer. Children of all ages are welcome at the lodge.
Getting to the lodge can be through flying from Arusha to Lake Manyara airstrip which is about one hour and 30 minutes’ drive from the airstrip. Guests are picked up from the airstrip by the lodge.
The lodge also supports the local community and local farmers through getting produce used at the crater lodge from the local community.
