Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park Gates : Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park the only national park on Zanzibar island in Tanzania. Its landscape is a mosaic of mangroves, tropical forests and coral rug forests, as well as groundwater, salt marshes, and agricultural and residential areas. The national park was established in 2004 and covers an area of 50 square kilometers.  The site is a biodiversity hotspot home to reef fish species, dolphins and 168 species of birds including 30 species of global and regional importance. Out of the site’s 291 known plant species, 21 are considered to be endangered including butterflies, huge numbers of primates such as the red colobus monkeys, sykes monkeys, bush babies, nocturnal tree hyrax, aders duiker, Zanzibar leopard, Zanzibar servaline genet, civet, chameleons, vegetation types like tropical forest, mangrove forests, ground water, marine organisms like the sea fish species, dolphins among others.

The first entrance gate, located on the eastern side of the park, is known as the Jozani gate this gate if the main entrance to Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park. the gate is conveniently situated near the Jozani forest, a dense   and lush area that is home to a large population of red colobus monkeys. Tourist entering through this gate expect to be greeted by the park’s lush forest, with towering trees, winding trails, the sounds of the birds chirping and the occasional glimpse of a monkey swinging from branch to branch. The gate is easily accessible from the town of Zanzibar, and tourist can take a taxi or shuttle service to get to the park. once inside, tourist cam purchase tickets and begin their journey through the park’s stunning forests and mangrove swamps. The Jozani Gate is also home to a small visitor center, where visitors can learn about the park’s unique ecosystem and wildlife.

The second gate, located on the western side of the park, is known as the Chwaka Gate. this gate offers access to the Chwaka Bay area of the park, which is characterized by mangrove forest, coastal vegetation and stunning views of the bay itself. Tourists can access the Chwaka Gate by taking a boat from nearby town of Nungwi or by driving through the coastal road.  Visitors entering through this gate can explore the diverse habitats of the park, from the mangrove swamps teeming with birdlife, coral reefs to the sandy beaches where sea turtles come ashore to nest. The Chwaka Gate is also home to aa small picnic area, where tourist can relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding bay.
