Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Ngorongoro Sopa lodge is located on the Eastern side of Ngorongoro crater. Ngorongoro Sopa lodge offers unique and comfortable accommodation to the guests. Its located at the highest cliff of the crater rim hence making it the best viewing point of the crater across Ngorongoro conservation Area. The lodge is found just a few kilometers away from the crater entrance road, the road that connects to the lodge is very good not bumpy making our guest feel comfortable to drive to the crater any time of the year with no fear of slippery holly roads.

The lodge has 92 rooms constructed in a local African Style taking conservation as a key while planning. The lodge has a large swimming pool and many extra activities for children hence making it fit for families with children. The lodge has single rooms, double rooms and twin rooms with each room having queen size beds with en-suite bathroom, shower and enclosed glass –fronted solarium.

With that altitude most times especially at night Ngorongoro Sopa lodge is mostly cold and the lodge management has provided hot water bottles in the beds as the central heat point. The main lode area is designed in African local way which is unique in circular manner, the windows are split at different levels to give the guests the breathtaking views over Ngorongoro crater. The lodge has a central lobby lounge with curio shop that leads to the swimming pool area, the restaurant, bar and conference facilities.

Activities at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Game viewing: Ngorongoro Sopa lodge gives guests great chances of all day game drive at the crater and they provide parked lunch boxes which the guests will go with as they enjoy to have great view of the animals like rare black rhinos, Elephants, wildebeest, buffalos and many more. Birds like secretary birds, ostriches, kori bustards, sterling’s, open bill stork mention but a few.

Cultural tours: Ngorongoro Sopa lodge offers their guests with cultural experience that includes visiting the local Maasai Mayatas in the conservation area. Sometimes they invite the locals to come and perform at the lodge in the evening when the guests are done with their dinner and they are relaxing and memorizing their experience.

Visit Archaeological sites: The lodge is located in the center of the conservation area and it gives guests great opportunity to reach to the famous Olduvai gorge where the remains of the old man was discovered by Dr Leakey, they visit the museum and other nearby sites before they return back the lodge for their dinner

Hiking: Ngorongoro Sopa lodge has well trained guides that lead the nature walks at the conservation area. Hiking is mostly done by fit and energetic guests at their free evenings as they want to have close view and feel for nature during their time in Ngorongoro conservation area.

Mountain biking: Ngorongoro Sopa lodge have a series of mountain bikes which guests can hire for a short or long guided ride. They have specific routing for the ride under the guide of the locals.
