Shangama wilderness lodge is a mid-range accommodation found in Karatu within the Ngorongoro Conservation area in the Tanzania region. The lodge is situated 10 miles from Lake manyara airport, surrounded by lush gardens and beautiful landscape. The lodge is a perfect base to stay away from the crowd while enjoying the quiet and beautiful environment.
How to get there:
it takes approximately 3-4 hour’s drive on a tarmac road from Arusha to the lodge through mayukuni and karatu and 40 minutes to fly to the close lake Manyara airstrip then a few minutes to be at the lodge.
About the lodge.
Shngama Wilderness Lodge consists of five comfortable and elegant rooms overlooking the beautiful landscape that reflect traditional building styles with comfort and ambience. They offer single beds for individuals and double beds as well as family/group options
All rooms are well decorated and furnished with private en suite facilities with flushing toilets, bathrooms with hot and cold showers, mosquito nets, comfortable tropical wooden beds with clean and washed beddings, free bottled water, free toiletries, slippers, wooden chairs and tables, and white duvets and pillows to mention but a few.
Rooms have private verandas and sitting areas that overlook the stunning view over the forest canopy and surrounding area.
There is a campfire pit where guests relax and share experiences about the safari; it also provides warmth to visitors in the nights.

A Dining area that serves different meals, both international and African-inspired, that meet guests’ choices. you can have meals in either dining area or Veranda. Meals offered are Continental breakfast, lunch and dinner served by well-trained, friendly and organized staff.
A bar WITH A SHARED lounge offering a variety of drinks, both local and international beers, you relax and have a drink of your choice while overlooking the stunning view of the forest canopy and surrounding area.

About the park
Ngorongoro Crater is located in the northern part of Tanzania, near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the Great Rift Valley, covering a total area of 8,292 km and is 3 million years old. The crater is the best place in East Africa with beautiful, breathtaking Views.
There are different attractions in the park, which include the wild beast migration from Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater , Salei Plains and Ol karien Gorge, Variety flora and Fauna, stunning scenery; and many more attractions.
The park offers different categories of accommodation, including budget, mid-range, and luxury options that are convenient and affordable for guests visiting the area. The park contains short grasses with more highlands and other beautiful volcanoes. The area have over 25,000 large animals, including 26 black rhinoceros and over 100 number of lions, 7,000 wild beasts, 4,000 zebras, 3,000 eland and 3,000 Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles
The park is home to various animals, including the big five mammals of the world: lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard, rhino, zebra, impala, antelope, and various bird species. There are more different activities to do while in the Park which include ; Game viewing at crater and lake Eyasi view point to different animals migrating , Crater viewing , Cultural visits in the local village, Hiking the Gol Mountains in the remote areas of the park , Crater Rim Nature walks, Bird watching in the park, Visiting archaeological like oldivai gorge museum and many other activities .
The Park gives a stunning view of the Ngorongoro Crater since it’s the largest caldera in the world and the surrounding areas. There are more masaai mara pastoralists in Ngorongoro Park. June –july and late January and February are the best months to travel in Tanzania for a safari, especially on the Ngorongoro side.
