9 Days Tanzania Big 5 Safari is a safari experience across different destinations in the northern part of Tanzania starting in Arusha town. You will enjoy visiting Tarangire national park where you will see big herds of elephants as well as different bird species and also engage in morning and afternoon game drives in the national park.
You will also go to the Ngorongoro conservation area during your 9 days Tanzania big 5 safari and explore the Ngorongoro crater which has beautiful views and is also home to numerous wildlife species including the big 5. You will explore the Ngorongoro conservation area for 2 days before continuing to the next destination on your itinerary.
During your safari in Serengeti national park, you will enjoy seeing many big cats as you explore the central part of the national park or the Seronera area. This part of the national park is popular among tourists and is also home to the big 5. After completing your 9 days Tanzania big 5 safari, your guide will drive you back to Arusha which will bring the safari to an end.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1; Arusha
You will be welcomed by your driver guide at Kilimanjaro international airport and you will also be briefed shortly about your safari before your guide drives you to your hotel to check in. Depending on the time of arrival if early morning you will have an OPTIONAL game drive at Arusha national park dinner and overnight at Tulia boutique hotel and spa.
Day 2; Transfer to Tarangire national park
After breakfast at your hotel in Arusha on the 2nd day of your 9 days Tanzania safari, you will be driven to Tarangire national park. This national park has over 600 bird species and is also known for its large herds of elephants which can be seen during a safari in the national park.
You will also search for a variety of wildlife species during your safari such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, hartebeest, wildebeest, elands, impalas among others as well as many bird species. You will also enjoy seeing the ancient baobab and acacia trees in Tarangire national park as you drive around the national park. Your guide will drive you to your lodge after your game drive for dinner and overnight at Tarangire Roika lodge.
Day 3; Full day in Tarangire National Park.
After breakfast early at your lodge, you will engage in morning and afternoon game drives around Tarangire National Park. You will go with your packed lunch as you drive around the savannah plains of the national park looking out for various wildlife species such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, antelopes, giraffes among others.
You will have lunch after your morning game drive as you prepare to engage in an afternoon game drive in Tarangire national park. You will also enjoy seeing attraction around the national park such as the Tarangire river which is a major source of water for the wildlife species. Dinner and overnight will be at Tarangire Roika lodge.
Day 4; Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
You will have an early breakfast at your lodge in Tarangire national park as you prepare for your transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation area. You will explore the crater area upon arrival in the Ngorongoro conservation area as you look out for various wildlife species like the big 5 which includes elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards and buffalos.
You will explore the area as you look out for different wildlife species and enjoy the beautiful views within the Ngorongoro crater area. You will arrive in time for lunch after which you will go for the afternoon game drive and dinner and overnight will be at Rhino lodge.
Day 5; Ngorongoro crater tour.
Your day will start with breakfast at your lodge before you go to the Ngorongoro crater for another wildlife viewing experience in the world’s largest caldera. The Ngorongoro crater area is home to wildlife species such as predators like Lions, Leopards and cheetahs. Other wildlife species which can be spotted around the crater include elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, elands, antelopes, gazelles, waterbucks, hartebeests, hyenas and a lot of bird species. There are also black Rhinos which can be seen in Ngorongoro crater. You will have dinner and overnight at Rhino lodge.
Day 6; Transfer to Serengeti National Park
You will have your morning breakfast at your lodge and then proceed to Serengeti national park where you will arrive late in the afternoon and proceed to your lodge for lunch. After your lunch, you will engage in an afternoon game drive to experience a true African safari and also search for the big 5 (elephants, rhinos, buffalos, lions, leopards). You will return to your lodge after your game drive for dinner and overnight at Osinon camps and lodges.
Day 7; morning and afternoon game drive and Serengeti Exploration.
After breakfast on the 7th day of your 9 days Tanzania safari, you will set out with your packed lunch for a full day game drive in Serengeti National Park. You will engage in a morning and afternoon game drive in the national park which is the oldest in Tanzania.
The national park is also famous for the wildebeest migration which takes place across the Masai Mara and Serengeti eco system. Other wildlife species in Serengeti national park include the lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, cheetahs, impalas, kobs, giraffes, elands, impalas among others. You will have lunch after your morning game drive and later head out for another game drive in the national park. You will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight Osinon camps and lodges.
Day 8; Full day Serengeti safari.
After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will have another full day of wildlife viewing as you explore Serengeti national park. During the morning game drives, wildlife species are very active and can easily be spotted as they graze and roam around the open savannah plains of the national park such as wildebeests, antelopes, giraffes, elands, impalas, kudu, dik dik, zebras, waterbucks, hartebeests, hyenas, warthogs among others. you will have lunch after your morning game drive and later continue for an afternoon game drive around Serengeti national park. You will also enjoy seeing the Simba kopjes as you explore the national park during your game drive.
You will be driven back to your lodge after the game drive for dinner and overnight at Osinon camps and lodges.
Day 9; transfer to Arusha (Departure).
After morning breakfast you will engage in an en-route game drive in Serengeti national park on your way to Arusha where you will be dropped off by your guide at the airport or your hotel in Arusha which will bring your 9 days Tanzania safari to an end.
