From February to March, the calving season during the wildebeest migration can also be seen during a safari around the Ngorongoro conservation area. About 8,000 calves are born daily around the Ndutu area during the calving season which is also a good time to see lions, leopards, cheetahs and other predators that hide close to the wildebeest herds and wait to prey on the unknowing wildebeests in the grass plains.
