District Of Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania; Ngorongoro crater is located in the Western part of Arusha which is one of the big protected and animal rich that forms the Northern Tourists circuit that includes the most famous national parks of Tanzania; i.e. Serengeti national park, Tarangire national park, Lake Manyara national park and Ngorongoro crater. Ngorongoro crater is found in Ngorongoro District which is one of the five districts that form the great Arusha Region.
Ngorongoro district borders Kenya in the North, Karatu district in the West and onduli District on the east. The district has a population of around 129,776 residents according to the Tanzania National Census which was conducted in 2002. The population is dominated by the Maasai locals and few other tribes that mostly come for business which is tourism related like guiding, Hotel and other employees of Ngorongoro conservation area Authorities.

Ngorongoro district is occupied by majorly the Maasai people who have lived in the area for over 100 years since the time they were relocated from Serengeti national park to Ngorongoro conservation Area where they settled till today. Ngorongoro district is one of the nature gifted districts in Tanzania with more attractions like Ngorongoro crater, Ol Doinyo Lengai which is the only active volcano in Tanzania, Empakaai and many more, historical and Archaeological sites like Olduvai Gorge.
The district hosts the largest live animal migration that occurs annually the wildebeest that come to give birth at the Northern part around Ndutu area where millions of wildebeest go to give birth during calving season. The district official headquarters are found in Loliondo Village where all district offices are located.
Protected areas in the district;
¾ of Ngorongoro district is covered by Ngorongoro Conservation area, the only conservation area where humans live together with wildlifeat peace. The conservation is managed by Ngorongoro conservation Authority which gives guides and rules to follow while at the area.
Ngorongoro district has one constituency which are represented in Tanzania parliament as one of the constituencies that form Arusha Region. The district is divided in to 3 divisions of

The district has 20 wards which are administratively functioning these are:
Arash, Olbalbal, Ololosokwan, Oloipiri, Oldonyo, Digodigo, Enduleni, Kakesio, Malambo, Nainokanoka, Nayobi, Soit Sambu, Sale, Pinyinyi, Ngorongoro, Orgosorok, Sambu, Nayobi, Orgosorok and Enguserosambu.
