6 Days Ndutu and Serengeti Safari

6 Days Ndutu and Serengeti Safari

6 Days Ndutu and Serengeti Safari is slightly longer than the rest of the trips, but this one is a special trip. The power of the great wildebeest migration is here at your doorstep, with good timing and planning. Be the eye witness of the newly born wildebeest calves on this 6 days Ndutu and Serengeti safari.

Day 1 – Arusha to Serengeti Plains

Pick up from your hotel in Arusha by our guide; he will brief you on 6 days Ndutu and Serengeti safari. We head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species.

Depending on the time of your flight, we have an en route game drive to our camp for refreshments and to wait for lunch. After lunch, go for an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2 – Serengeti National Park

We have a full day in this wonderful park, rising early to make the most of our time. Our guides will choose the best spotting locations for the time of year; we can spend time at the Hippo pool watching these majestic animals laze about in the cool water happily living alongside the crocodiles, watch a big pride of lions, be in the middle of the migration, sometimes surrounded by wildebeest, sometimes by zebras, which travel with the wildebeest.

We journey from the wide open plains to the kopjes: these volcanic rocky outcrops provide protection and shelter for a wide variety of animals, and from the top we can look out across the vast grasslands of the Serengeti.

This diverse and interesting landscape will provide us with the ultimate in game viewing; we will hopefully see all of the plains game: elephants, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, lions, and if you are lucky the elusive leopard and cheetah, as well as huge amounts of interesting bird life, from the elegant secretary birds to the flightless ostrich. We return to our special tented camp for the night.

Day 3 – Serengeti Plains – Ndutu

Wake up early for breakfast as we prepare for another exciting day in our safari. We drive to the southern part of Serengeti with an en route game drive, viewing more and more animals as we cross to the Ndutu area, passing next to the Ndutu lake. With our packed lunch, we enjoy an all-day game drive, viewing and witnessing the birth of a new generation of wildebeest in the area.

We act as eyewitnesses to the maternity ward as predators watch live which one can they survive with, it’s an interesting process since the newborns together with their mothers don’t know if they can survive from the hands of the predators. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Full day Ndutu

Today you will start very early in the morning for morning game drive start around 6:00 am depart the lodge go around Ndutu lake and lake masek looking for big cat’s probably in hunting of prey, expect to see wildebeest, zebras, impalas, lions, cheetahs and many more wildlife later back to the lodge for full breakfast before you go again to the bush for afternoon game drive later back to the lodge for lunch and afternoon rest, when the sun is cool go again for evening game drive on Ndutu plains for sundowner before you back to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5 – Ndutu to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast at the lodge, we depart to Ngorongoro. We will stopover at Olduvai Gorge, boasting a history dating back to the dawn of time. It was here that the anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, both very significant links in the chain of human evolution. (optional)

We arrive in time for lunch at the lodge, and after lunch we will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife for a half-day safari tour. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a wide variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants.

Another big drawcard to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually be seen here. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6 – Lake Manyara – Arusha/JRO

Enjoy breakfast, after which we will transfer back to JRO with a brief stop at Arusha for lunch. Depending on your flight, you can have a city tour before we drive to the airport.
