Anga’ta Ngorongoro camp is one of the small simple camps which was located in the Acacia special campsite and was now shifted to Nyata special campsite. Nyata special campsite is located in the South Eastern side of Ngorongoro crater close to the Ngorongoro crater lodge. The Anga’ta Ngorongoro camp is located at an elevation of 2310 meters above sea level.

The camp got its name from the local Masaai language Anga’ta which means wilderness in Maa. The location area of the camp in Ngorongoro Conservation Area called Ang’ata kiti just adjacent to the Nasira Rock. The camp borders Gol Mountains in the South and the slopes of Ngorongoro crater on the North. Anga’ta Ngorongoro camp was founded in 2011 as the best alternative to cater for the middle-income guests whose budget does not fit the luxury accommodations around the Ngorongoro crater region. The camp has 8 guest Tents that include 2 family tents, lounge, and dining tent.

All the tents in Anga’ta Ngorongoro camp have well-furnished rooms each with en-suite bathrooms with a shower, clean flushing toilets, vanity desk, and a mini bar. There are three types of tents i.e. single tents, double tents with one kingsize bed or 2 twin beds and triples tents. It’s only family tents that can accommodate up to 4 guests in a room. Our lounge is a meeting area by guests share their safari experiences while having a cup of African tea or Coffee. In our restaurant is where our meals (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are served in the special dining tent.

We offer freshly prepared meals with both international and local dishes severed in time. Our breakfast is severed from 6:00 am to 10:00 am, lunches start from mid-day to 3:00 pm while dinner starts from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm daily. We offer picnic lunch boxes under request from the guest or tour operator especially to the guests who always have a full day crater explore and maybe have to continue their transfer to the endless Serengeti national park.

Anga’ta Ngorongoro camp offers campfire nicknamed as the Bush TV especially during the dry season when the weather permits us on daily basis. Other activities at Anga’ta Ngorongoro camp include:

  • One day hike to Empakaai crater
  • Cultural tours that visit the local Maasai village
  • Donkey riding with the local Maasai warriors
  • Crater rim walk which is always done with the accompaniment of the ranger
  • Game drives at Ngorongoro crater floor to see over 25,000 animals with more emphasis on African big 5 (Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffalos and Rhinos)
  • Bush lunch at the crater floor, weeding or honeymoon celebrations and many more.
